SHC Marketing Research Privacy Policy

Scott Holley Consulting LLC (SHC) appreciates that it is a privilege to learn and develop insight from the information, opinions, sentiments, and expressed wants needs and desires of those participating in marketing research. We take the responsibility of sharing these insights with our clients seriously. We have seen how it has helped to shape meaningful public and business policies, inspired product and service innovations, improved customer experiences, and created value for both respondents and client sponsors alike.

SHC is committed to protecting the privacy of respondent’s participating in our quantitative and qualitative research activities and our clients who sponsor them. The following policy has been adopted by all those engaged in designing, conducting, and delivering marketing research directly for or in collaboration with SHC.

As a matter of conducting marketing research, we acknowledge SHC may on occasion collect information from respondents. When this is necessary, we promise.

  • SHC researchers will clearly identify themselves and share the purpose of the research being conducted and receive permission from the respondent before engaging in research.
  • When conducting certain qualitative research like focus groups or in-depth interviews either in-person or virtually third parties may be observing or participating in the research activity, SHC will disclose this participation and receive consent from the respondent prior to initiation of the research activity. 
  • SHC will only collect data about you that is relevant and necessary for the research purposes.
  • SHC will be transparent about what data is being collected.
  • SHC will only collect personally identifiable information like your name, email address, phone number, etc. with your consent and only that which is needed for the research purpose.
  • SHC will hold any personal information shared by respondents in confidence. Personal information will not be shared with third-party clients or any other party without the express permission of the respondent or as required by law.
  • SHC will report data findings and insights in aggregate.
  • Whenever appropriate SHC will anonymize data.
  • SHC will never ask you for your bank account, credit card, social security number, or other government issued ID numbers.
  • All personally identifiable information (PII) will be stored on encrypted devices or servers and only accessed and share as appropriate for analysis and reporting of research findings and only for length of time needed to satisfy the purpose of the research.
  • SHC treats information collected from third parties like business contact lists, social media platforms, panel data providers, industry conference or event organizers or sponsors among other sources with the same respect as if provided directly from the respondent.
  • SHC does not sell your information and does not disclose your information, except as described in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise consented to by you or as pursuant to applicable laws or legal or court process or when we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent harm or financial loss, or in connection with an investigation of actual or suspected fraud or illegal activity. 
  • SHC does not conduct research with minors and does not knowingly collect PII form anyone under the agree thresholds prescribed by applicable laws and codes for the collection of PII from individuals without parental consent.
